Marisa
graduated with her Masters of Science in Physical
Therapy from the University of Connecticut in 2004.
She began her career at National Rehabilitation
Hospital in Washington DC and quickly found her
passion in the comprehensive treatment of men and
women with pelvic floor dysfunction including chronic
pelvic and abdominal pain, incontinence, and pre/post-natal
pain.
In 2009, she began working at the
Kirk Center for Healthy Living, a pelvic floor specialty
clinic in the Chicago suburbs. Here she was able
to enhance her skills as a pelvic floor specialist
and promote a comprehensive healing environment
by including yoga and meditation workshops for people
with chronic pelvic pain. She was a teaching assistant
with the Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitative
Institute and is planning to pursue her specialty
in Barral’s Visceral Manipulation, which she has
found to be pivotal in the treatment of pelvic floor
dysfunction and abdominal pain syndromes.
In 2011, Marisa completed her training
in Integral Bodywork, a 10 session comprehensive
method of releasing the connective tissue in the
body to promote improvements in structural alignment,
flexibility and overall well-being. She has found
this work to be transformational for her own physical
body and general health and looks forward to sharing
this work with others.
In her spare time Marisa enjoys
yoga, cooking, cycling, swimming, hiking, music,
theater, and travel.
