Some disadvantages associated with Medicare Advantage plans include:
Higher Out-of- pocket Costs: These plans can have copays, deductibles, and an annual out-of-pocket maximum that can be quite high
Restricted Provider Networks: Many Medicare Advantage plans have limited networks
Prior Authorization Requirements: Some services may require pre-authorization, which can delay care and lead to claim denials.
Limited Coverage for Travelers: Plans may not provide coverage outside of the service area, a big disadvantage for those traveling frequently
Difficulty Switching Plans: Switching out of a Medicare Advantage plan can be
complicated and may involve medical underwriting that may limit care
